WHO WE ARE
The Australian Physie and Dance Association (APDA) has revolutionised physie as you know it.
APDA was created with the vision to produce a sport that incorporates the fundamentals of physie and the art of dance.
Through the dedication and passion of a network of Physie and dance professionals, a contemporary, relevant and transparent platform for our sport was born, benefiting our student’s fitness, strength and flexibility while embracing the movement of dance.
WHAT IS PHYSIE & DANCE?
APDA is a fusion of Physie and the art of dance. Members learn 4 – 6 choreographed routines throughout the year, each with its own specific skill set and focus on movement, musicality, technique, performance, flexibility, cardio and strength – all in one class!
OUR VISION
Striving for excellence – Driven by passion
OUR MISSION
APDA is an exciting combination of dance and physie, creating an inclusive environment that welcomes people of all genders and ages to participate in a supportive community. In a social and physical environment we strive to achieve fitness, mental well-being and to obtain results in our competitions at all levels.

TINY TOTS PROGRAM
An early childhood program targeted at three to four year olds with a focus on introducing young children to the discipline of physie while dancing in a nurturing and fun environment.
MUSIC & CHOREOGRAPHY
CHOREOGRAPHY
A key driving element of the association is the curriculum we offer to our students. By recruiting a number of professional dance choreographers each year, APDA is able to construct an exciting and progressive set of routines whilst following a structure to allow skill progression and coordination as the dancers develop in both age and ability.
MUSIC
APDA will provide each registered Teacher with all music required to teach. All APDA Members also receive a copy of music each year.
VISUAL TEACHING TOOLS
Each year APDA will forward a Dropbox file containing videos of each syllabus routine. These tools are created by our Music and Choreography team.
This is for Teachers only to enable them to learn each routine with both a visual and written representation of the syllabus.
MEMBER PRACTICE TOOLS
A selection of performers, usually from our pool of National Champions, are invited to shoot instructional videos for our Members. This enables students to continue practice in their own time.
COMPETITION & PERFORMANCES
APDA organises all venues and events for team and individual competitions.
These performances enhance and encourage goal setting and personal achievements. The students are given the choice of participating in team events to represent their studio or individual competitions.
With these yearly events our Members learn essential skills such as team building and sportsmanship. APDA prides itself on National Competitions being held in the finest Australian Venues such as the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Darling Harbour.
JUDGING SYSTEM
APDA prides itself on the delivery off our unique judging system, created specifically for our sport. Our competition judges consist of both teachers within our association and dance professionals who are well regarded and highly qualified.
Both are required to complete and pass a judging course that tests their ability to spot correct technique and execution of each routine. Having qualified judges and a judging system created specifically for our sport we are able to provide the best possible outcome at each competition.
